Woke up this morning to discover my phone had not charged overnight and was not accepting a charge. Got it on the original charger issued with the phone and it seems to be charging up now but who knows how long until this thing dies.

What's the oldest item you own that still gets regular use?

Houses don't count for the purposes of this question, though cars do. I'm looking for personal property.

Additionally, if your oldest item was previously owned by someone else for an extended period of time, what's the oldest item you bought or received new?

Also, if either item sat in storage more than half of its lifespan, was there an item that has seen more continuous use?

If the heat death of the cosmos comes with a homogenization of energy throughout spacetime, then follow me down this rabbit hole:

It is possible to explain space as a representation of an energy gradient; there is no need for it otherwise, because energy gradients produce (and are, in that sense, defined by) movement through spacetime. If the cosmos becomes homogenous, then spacetime will collapse and the Big Bang issues forth once again.

If someone makes a copy of an album they have and gives it to you, you haven't stolen anything. If it's a copy of a show they taped off broadcast, they didn't even steal anything. So why is it suddenly theft when a torrent is involved?

Show thread

"Piracy" isn't piracy in any meaningful sense and usually involves no theft. It's a violation of the license agreement on the part of the original sharing party, sure, but "unauthorized copying" doesn't play as well in court or the media.

"Oh no, we musn't raise wages or we'll get into an inflation spiral" - people who either haven't noticed that the cost of living is massively outstripping wages - and thus not caused by them- or are somehow hoping *you* won't notice, so they can continue to create a permanent debtor class.

The equivalent is ostatus_subscribe?acct=<user link> but it looks like isn't working for Mastodon either? Or maybe nobody's using the Fediverse anymore and it's just a bunch of dead accounts?

Anyone out there know offhand what the equivalent of mastodon's authorize_interaction URL is? Trying to use pytrunk on another account and not having much luck

The fediverse is quite amazing when you consider how many borders, social constructs and expectations it breaks.

Keep challenging the status quo, because people like us are the kind of people that change things.

A thought I had ...

"They want to keep us tired and drained, worried about paying our bills rather than having time to think and revolt"

I'm positive we Americans have it an order of magnitude better than pre-revolution Russians, Chinese, or Vietnamese.

If we have time to Facebook, we have time to study theory and plan. We in the Imperial Core are far too accustomed to leisure, and that's the real problem.

Ordinary worldling mind: Magic is pseudoscience
Sravaka mind: Physics envy indicates areas of magical thinking among scientists
Going forth mind: Physics itself is a derivative of mathematics, math is a purer field
Stream entrant mind: Math is incomplete and the "purity" of a field of science is not itself a metric to be considered in experimentation unless it is somehow the testable subject of the experiment
Once-returner mind: The scientific or unscientific qualities of various forms of magic lack a universal bearing on their role as a series of practices.
Bodhisattva vow mind: Pseudosciences are magic

I think I needed to get fucked up and I for sure succeeded

Can't wait to see what tomorrow's like
